I got sidetracked, sorry for the slow reply.

I use an Arduino Uno R3 and i am using the Arduino 1.8.9 IDE.
Dot matrix has 783BS written on the side.

I've just tried it on 1.8.9 but can't seem to replicate this warning either. Very odd. I've attached an updated HCDotMatrix.cpp & HCDotMatrix.h . Can you copy these over your existing files and give it a try. As I say I can't replicate the error so I don't know if it will fix the warning or not.
