Thanks Andrew for confirming,

I saw some answers on amazon for this device saying it could and some it couldn´t. Asumeing you know what you´re talking about, I´m gonna try them on my "cheap" solar only cabin heating system... (the pipes and amount of conrete nessesary haven´t really been cheap)

I've have been asked this question in the past so maybe there is either some misinformation or a there is a variant/older version of this product that doesn't store settings. Obviously I cant comment on versions sold elsewhere but the ones we sell do keep their settings when power is removed.

According to the documentation this is suppose to happen:

"Setting the high temperature alarm parameter P6:
Setting a value for this parameter will cause the relay to switch off when the the temperature reaches this setting. The seven segment display will also show '---' to indicate an alarm condition. The relay will not re-energise until the temperature falls below this value. The default setting is OFF."

I'm relying on this to turn a fan on at 10C and then off again at 20C (to capture the cool but not frigid night air and turn off as the day heats up). The --- alarm triggers but the relay stays on :-(

Any suggestions? I don't want to spend a lot of time on this, so perhaps a pointer to a different controller (that does actually do what it says in the specs)?

If I understand your requirement correctly you just need to use the controller in heating mode. Try these settings:

Trigger temperature = 20
P0 = H
P1 = 10
P2 = Leave as default (110)
P3 = Leave as default (-50)
P4 = Leave as default (0)
P5 = Leave as default (0)
P6 = Leave as default (OFF)

As a follow-up I went with W1401 controllers instead.

Hello.

I'm a bit confused with the instructions for the W1209. Could I ask for some help with it please?

I bought 2 of these with the intention of controlling the hot air in my greenhouse. I have 4 x 14cm computer case fans (12v .12A) and a solar panel that charges a 10amp SLA battery. I'm not brilliant at following instructions but I've connected everything together. The unit displays the temperature and I thought I had set the temperature to trigger the relay but the fan doesn't work, even though the relay clicks with the LED.

Ideally, I want the module to switch the fans on when the temperature is 23 degrees and off again when the temperature drops below that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ideally, I want the module to switch the fans on when the temperature is 23 degrees and off again when the temperature drops below that.

If you're using the fans to cool the greenhouse then you'll need to use the module in cooling mode. Try this:

First reset the module back to its defaults by long pressing the + & - buttons together. Then try the following parameters (note in this example I'm assuming you want the fans to turn on at 23oC and off at 20oC):

Trigger temperature = 20 (In cooling mode the trigger temperature is the temperature the relay will turn off)
P0 = C (sets the module to cooling mode)
P1 = 3 (The relay will energise when the greenhouse temperature = trigger temperature + P1)

I thought I had set the temperature to trigger the relay but the fan doesn't work, even though the relay clicks with the LED.

If you're hearing the relay energise and nothing is happening then this would suggest there is a problem with the wiring. Try the above settings and if it still doesn't work remove the wires from the relay contacts and manually short them together. Does the fan(s) turn on when you manually shore the wires?

Hello, I have a 1209 module and I want to change the primary temperature sensor and use another resistance temperature sensor on it, but the problem is that the working range of these two sensors is different and below are the different values of each sensor. I have brought.
Can anyone help me calibrate this module with the new sensor?
