HCMODU0061 As a Bluetooth extender

Post by steveand39 » Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:55 am

I connect an app on my phone to control a camera which constantly drops out
would it be possible to connect two units data pins (and power) with 10M of cat5 cable and link one to the phone and the other to the camera as a Bluetooth extender.
or would I need to install Arduinos or esp32 as signal controllers?

secondly would the HCMODU0061 connected to the phone be set to slave and the unit for the camera as a master?

It would be using it out of spec but it may work at lower data rates.

However, these are serial devices in that they only transfer a serial (RS232) connection over Bluetooth. So your camera would have to specifically support this type of connection (BT2.0 Serial Port Profile - SPP). If it doesn’t specifically specify this then it’s unlikely that these modules will work with your camera.

secondly would the HCMODU0061 connected to the phone be set to slave and the unit for the camera as a master?
Assuming the above isn’t a problem then you would connect the slave module to your phone, and a master to your camera.
