Enclosure Kit - Arduino compatible R3 Mega, 1602 Serial LCD Module and Case

Just received this. The advert and the shipped good are a bit misleading.

1. Fitting the supplied LCD assembly into the enclosure, with Mega installed.
The case can not be closed, as the LCD backpack contrast pot fouls the Mega I/O connectors, in all orientations.

2. With regard for the supplied Mega.
I obviously don't mind buying Arduino compatible boards but do try to avoid counterfeit.

Point 1, is unfortunate. The enclosure is otherwise very good value and will just about accommodates a small shield.
Point 2 left me particularly disappointed. Not quite enough to go to the cost and hassle of returning the goods.

Shame really. The bundle is still great value and I received it promptly, thank you.

Thanks for your feedback. We have just checked one of the kits with a Mega and the I2C version of the LCD does indeed foul one of the back sockets of the Mega. This is something we were not aware of and so we are now taking it off sale until we find a solution. Please accept our apologies for this problem. As this is effectively something that doesn't do what it is advertised to do, please conact us at sales @ hobbycomponents.com if you do wish to return it. We can cover the return costs as the problem is our fault.

The Megas we sell are compatible boards built by Funduino and are advertised and sold as such. We try to make this as clear as possible because we do not want anybody to buy these boards in error. Please rest assured that your Mega is built to a high quality and that you will see no difference is its operation to an Arduino branded Mega as it is built to the same open source reference design. Here is a copy of the items description which explains what you have purchased:
Please note that this item is Arduino compatible. Arduino is an open standard and this board has been built exactly to the Arduino open source reference design. It also contains the same boot loader and is therefore identical in design, build and software to an original board. The only significant difference is the price. All our Arduino boards are built and tested at the same factory and have an exceptionally high reliability rate. Of course, if you are not happy with your order you can return it back to us for any reason within 14 days of receiving it.

I went to our local craft shop, bought a "Really Useful Box" for £1 and after a bit of hacking with a Stanley knife and a Dremel, I have a really useful box capable of holding the Arduino Uno, a 1602 serial LCD and my own interface board.

Mind you, it doesn't look all that pretty! :D
