Just started to look into controlling the decimal point and was getting confused until I realised that the 'b' segment is permanently illuminated on all the digits and is also slightly brighter than the other segments.

I think the unit is faulty, I only recieved it this morning. :?: :?:

Maybe some pins of the 7-segment Display are to long and connects to the USB port of the Arduino.
Shorten some pins at minimum and isolate USB port Arduino from pins of 7-segment Display.

That was an old post from 5 years ago and the issue was being caused by using an old obsolete (R2) Uno which is incompatible with the shield. There is a note about it in the FAQ section of the first post.
