RM95 Breakout Board (HCPROT0104)
RM95 Breakout Board (HCPROT0104)
This is a breakout board for the RM95 wireless LoRa module (HCMODU0247). The purpose of this board is to bring out the 2mm pitch pads of the RM95 module to a more convenient and breadboard/Dupont friendly 0.1” pitch. Additionally the breakout board brings out the antenna pin to a separate pad suitable for soldering a wire/coil/or SMA antenna.
Supplied with the kit are 2x 0.1” pitch header pins for optionally soldering to the upper or lower sides of the PCB and a 900MHz coil antenna (if the HCPROT0104B version of the kit is purchased).
Please note: This kit requires soldering of the RM95 module to the breakout board. Please see the guide below for recommended soldering steps.
The RM95 module is NOT included with this kit. The module can be purchased separately here: LINK TBA
Specification:
Product code: HCPROT0104 (no antenna) / HCPROT0104B (coil antenna)
Module type: RM95 868Mhz or 915MHz
Module dimensions (ex antenna): 33mm x 24mm
Step 1)
Place your RM95 module on the breakout board pads as shown. Note that the module is oriented so that pin 1 (GND) of the module is in the bottom right hand corner, and pin 9 (antenna) is in the top left hand corner. Note that the main IC on the RM95 is towards the bottom right.
Step 2)
With the module centred on the pads, apply solder to the bottom right had pad (pin 1) of the breakout board. With sufficient heat the solder should flow over the pad and then onto the pad of the RM95.
Step 3)
Now solder the pad in the opposite corner (pin 9).
Step 4)
With the module now secured in place you can solder the remaining pads.
Step 5)
If you have purchased the optional coil antenna this can now be soldered to the main antenna pad. Insert the end of the antenna into the hole located on the pad and then apply solder to the pad to secure it in place.
