Re: HCMAX7219 - LED driver library

Firstly if you're using two displays, and assuming you haven't already done this, make sure you set the NUMBEROFDRIVERS definition in the HCMAX7219.h file to 2 (it defaults to 1). If you using Windows don't use notepad to edit as it messes up the formatting of the file - use something like notepad++...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

Result: cube booted up and ran through demo reasonably well but seemed slow? stopping to pause and whenever it was picked up by the corners it would sometimes reset and start again, but always seemed like it was unstable. cube would light at the feet, but no boot up sequence (54321 etc) delay, then...

Re: WeMos D1 Mini Motor Drive Shield (HCWEMO0010)

If your talking about the motor shield itself then this will get its power (3.3V) from the D1. If your taking about powering both the motor shield and the D1 from the motor supply (VM) then I don't believe this is possible without an additional regulator unless of course the supply to your motor(s) ...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

Ah - just seen your edit. If you could try the first suggestion of upping the PSU voltage to the DC socket to 9V and if the problem still persists can you double check all the soldering around IC U8. One common issue we've seen is where when inserting the IC sockets into the PCB the odd pin on the s...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

Thanks again for the information.... connecting up the positive to from the boards to each layer and powering up using my bench power supply set to 7.5 volts Time to install grid 7 and 8 - installed grid 7 and the display wouldn’t boot properly missing out the some of the text at the beginning and...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

@Ramshackle @willy54584 What would be nice is something like the WS2812B's in a 3mm LED package. That would make the design very simple. @Ramshackle That's great. it's still worth giving the caps another look over if you're still seeing noise issues though. At some point I could do with compiling a ...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

Would it have been a good idea to include a phone style socket on board when using a standard phone charger to power the cube? The pin and plug idea is easily pulled out. (I noticed an Image somewhere on here with exactly that arrangement) Or is it a soldering issue with something so small? This wo...

Re: Wemos/Lolin D32 ESP32 development board (HCWEMO0014)

It's my understanding that this is the case with the caveat that a few of the GPIO cells (34-39) are input only and so can only be connected to input pins of a peripheral. For the temperature sensor I've not tried this myself but there is an example sketch here: https://github.com/pcbreflux/espressi...

Re: MAX7219 8 Digit Seven Segment Display Module (HCMODU0082)

They're not actually our product, we're just a re-seller for them. But I see your point about the headers - would make more sense for them to be fitted on the reverse side. I'll feed it back to the manufacturer when the opportunity arises.
