Very nice, I like how you can also use the jig to bend the legs in the correct place. The I'll get the link for the jig added to the first post of the product thread.

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

@bluethunder22 I think the comments I made in repose to Ramshackle's last post are also relevant to your issue. Adding the 100nF capacitors won't hurt anything but I think it's likely that although it's making the cube work, it's probably just making the actual issue rather than fixing it. If you wa...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

Just to confirm (and summerise) by no change in behavior I assume this still means the following... 1) There is no activity from any of the cube LEDs. 2) The 4x 10mm base LED's do not flash then illuminate after about 15 seconds have past from applying power. 3) When touching certain pads you can ma...

Re: USBASP AVR programmer + Adaptor (HCDVBD0031)

It's not one we've tested ourselves but we program the USBasp with the latest version of firmware which supports devices with that size of flash memory. I've also seen examples of the programmer successfully programming that part so I see no obvious reason why it wouldn't work.

Re: Hobby Components 1602 SmartLCD (HCMODU0122)

I' m simply typing the commands into a basic terminal program from a Windows 10 laptop. Would you by any chance be using the Windows built in terminal program? If so that maybe the issue as it's not very good and causes all kinds of weird problems like that. I've just tested one using Terminal by B...

Re: Hobby Components 8x8x8 Cube Kit (HCKITS0050)

That collar will either be the trough-hole plating for that pad or the pad itself. It does look like the entire pad on one side of the crystal is damaged so that will probably be what it is. Fortunately the only things that pad connects to is a leg on the 22pf capacitor and a pin on the IC which are...

Re: Hobby Components 1602 SmartLCD (HCMODU0122)

Is there an older spec sheet for this board? I ask this as my board will not respond to any UART controls from a serial interface in command mode but in Passive mode I can run the display but not quite as the spec sheet describes. There is currently only one revision of the module and documentation...

I believe the 5V pin is connected to the centre pin of the DC socket. So whatever voltage is applied there will appear at the 5V pin.

Re: Wemos/Lolin D32 ESP32 development board (HCWEMO0014)

Yeah, if the board manager is reporting an error it doesn't surprise me that it's not appearing in the list but just wanted to be sure I understood the problem correctly. The only thing I can think of to try is to temporally remove all the links in the preferences section and then open up the board ...

Re: Wemos/Lolin D32 ESP32 development board (HCWEMO0014)

Odd, I expected it to be a problem with something pasted there but your list looks fine to me. Just to be sure I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it again on 1.8.9 and it worked fine so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue with the link. At what point do you see the error message appear, when you firs...
