Capacitive Touch LED Switch (HCSWIT0063 to 66)

A small illuminated capacitive toggle switch. This touch sensitive switch will toggle between its on and off state each time its front panel is touched (note that the switch can be modified to operate as a momentary switch - see note below). When in the on state the switch will illuminate via an LED backlight changing the switch from the opaque white to one of 4 colours (red, yellow, green or blue depending on version). It has a single digital output of either 0V when the switch is in the off state or 3.3V when in the on state, making it suitable for directly interfacing to a digital pin of either a 3.3V or 5V microcontroller. The switch can be powered by a single supply ranging from between 3.3 and 5.5V. Because the switch uses capacitive sensing it will also work when placed behind some materials, such as glass or acrylic perspex up to 3mm in depth.

Momentary mode modification:

The switches mode of operation can be changed from toggle to momentary by shorting out the pads shown in the image below. This can be done by either bridging the pads with a small amount of solder or soldering a surface mount 0 ohm resistor onto the pads. Please note that this modification should only be attempted if you have some soldering experience.
