MMA7361 Triple Axis Accelerometer (HCARDU0048)
Description:
This module is a breakout board for the MMA7361 triple axis accelerometer. The output of this module consists of 3 analogue outputs each representing one of 3 axis. Each output will vary from 0 to 3.3V depending on the tilt angle of the module. The sensitivity of these outputs can be selected between 1.5G or 6G depending on the G-select (GS) pin (default is 1.5G). Power to the module can be either directly from its 3.3V pin, or via an on board regulator via its 5V pin.

Pinout:
5V......Regulated 5V power
3.3V...3.3V power
GND...0V
GS.... G select: Low = 1.5g or 800mV/g High = 6g or 206mV/g
ST.....Self test mode
X.....X-axis analogue output (0 to 3.3V)
Y.....Y-axis analogue output (0 to 3.3V)
Z.....Z-axis analogue output (0 to 3.3V)
SL...Sleep mode (Low = sleep)
0G...Zero G detect. High when all 3 axis are at 0G

Just took delivery of one of these and it only took a few minutes to get it up and working using the AnalogReadSerial sketch from the Arduino Examples->Basics menu ......... once I realised that when it says:
SL...Sleep mode (Active low)
it means that its the sleep mode that is active when its low, not the board active when its low. I put 3.3V on the SL pin and it all worked fine. It looks like it is going to do just the job I want.
PS. I haven't tried the Zero G detect yet!
