Thank you for the detailed reply but I am going to write unconnected data to each MAX7219. I fear to rewrite to all displays say for one character change in one of them in series will really slow things down. The "print7Seg" command is very powerful & streamlines addressing the Driver.

I am using 5 MAX7219 modules. I would like to use the "print7Seg" command to write to them but cannot how see to address each driver using that. It seems I have to address each character in each driver to write to it though I can pre-select the number of characters for each driver. I have plenty of ...
