Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

Thanks for the technical explanation of how this has occured. I was going to ask about that. It's been an interesting saga and I've learned a lot. I'm happy to leave it with you to look at in your own time. I'm just pleased to know that my robot is not faulty and there's plenty I can try with it. Ch...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

I've tried this on another computer, as you say and I'm pleased to say it works!!! It behaves exactly as I remember it. Sighs of relief all round. Thanks for staying with this. An excellent piece of detective work. I know the kit has been on your range for a while now, but will we be seeing a V0.3 o...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

Could you also give the sketch below a try. All it will do is stick both motors into full speed forward. Does it look like one motor is spinning faster than the other? I.e. does it veer off in one direction? I'll just cover this first. Using a hand-held 9v lithium battery pack now to remove battery...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

Definite progress! It is now attempting the calibration The robot rotates clockwise slightly more than 180 deg and then anti-clockwise by slightly less (from straight ahead) but no third rotation. It then sets off along the line in a zig-zaggy manner (with a bias to the right). This is on a "T" patt...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

I've tried the V0.2 library and it made no difference. I didn't think it would either from what you had said but at least it's another possibility eliminated.

I'll leave you to look into it in your own time. No hurry.

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

I am unable to find anything wrong with the electronics on my robot but I'm far from being an expert in either this or the software. I will await the outcome of your investigations before trying to do much more. However, regarding your comments on the library: ......there has only ever been one upda...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

Thank you for your continued interest and perseverence with this. So that I'm not misleading you, just a quick update on my observations in my last post after your comment: If it's resetting it's most likely the motors causing a brownout from drawing too much current. This should only happen though ...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

I've been looking at the workings of the CalibrateLineSensors() routine in the library (line 620 on in the .cpp file). The actual motor control parts are straightforward enough so I've copied them to see if they would run in a simple sketch as per the library call, ie rotate one way then the other. ...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

I've timed the program (with a hand stopwatch!) and found that it takes 2 secs to get to the "turn tune" line, immediately before the calibration routine and then a further 5 secs before the calibration results appear on the serial monitor, followed immediately by the "EXPLORING THE MAZE" banner and...

Re: Hobby Components Maze Runner (HCROBO0052)

Yes I was hoping the lower numbers on 2 of the sensors were significant as I have spare sensors. Thank you for the detailed explanation of its workings, very informative. Regarding the test surface, my original "T" test maze was 20mm black tape on light cardboard which previously worked fine so it w...
